In the Butterfly Rainforest

During our stay in Gainesville Florida a few weeks ago we had the opportunity to visit the Butterfly Rainforest. I've included some pictures that I took while we wandered around looking for difference types of butterflies. It was a fairly simply challenge to get pictures in focus since they didn't move too quickly while feasting!

Manatee Springs State Park

We got down to this park close to the Swannee River just before lunch - it's a relatively short drive from Gainesville Florida, our early spring base for various travel jaunts this year. Here are some photos of the springs and one of the river itself.

Black Point Life Drive Birds

We arrived at a late hour at this location after doing a tour of the Kennedy Space Center. It turned out to actually be good to arrive just before sunset, as the light was great for photography, and the birds were congregating en mass.
I definitely enjoyed the visit to this area and captured some rather nice closeups, as follows:

I've just posted some new pictures onto flickr from our comparatively recent stay up at the "Little House" in Twin Mountain. These are photos that were taken either with my Nikon D90 or my Panasonic Lumix LX5.

This picture is taken at the so called Middle Falls on the Ammonoosuc River of New Hampshire.

Volunteer Park to Space Needle

Since my daughter quite likes this shot taken from Seattle’s Volunteer Park one Saturday afternoon in July, I figure I can include it in this blog entry. I wonder how many other photos composed like this one have, however, been taken over the years?

One of the advantages and appeals of flickr of course is that I can go in and see all of the photos taken from this vantage point reasonably easily although I’m going to resist the temptation to post links onto this blog from such a search.

We wandered around the streets of the city taking pictures of interesting buildings, etc.

And finally it was getting quite dark and I was using my Panasonic Lumix in the following shot.

S Carolina Over Memorial Day Weekend

We (my wife and I) drove down to the coast over the Memorial Day Weekend (nearing the end of May) and on the way stopped at this place and I took a few pictures both with the p&s and with my DSLR.  

The following picture is fairly typical of the park with Cyprus Trees and other foliage re-establishing themselves after the devastation of Hurricane Hugo back in 1989.
