On the Polygon

My daughter is enjoying herself at this little climbing park a couple of days ago just off the Atlanta Belt Line. If anyone is interested it’s close to where the belt line path goes under Freedom Parkway.

Nothern Cascades

Here are two pictures taken a couple of weeks ago in the Mount Baker region (East of Bellingham) of the Northern Cascades. This is one of those cases where I was glad to have my Sony SEL55210 lens with me. I was able to take a few closer shots of the glaciers on this mountain that would have been possible with the kit lens that comes with the a6000 model.

Littleton Foot Bridge

I'm continuing on my HDR photographic explorations and here's a photo that I took recently in Littleton, New Hampshire. The pedestrian bridge crosses the Ammonoosuc River.

HDR on the Rocks

I just purchased a copy of Photomatix and now I'm attempting to get up to speed with HDR style of shooting. And so here's on of my first HDR creations. I am shooting with a Sony a6000 mirrorless camera and in recent weeks have been using fine jpg format rather than RAW. I used jpg format for the following picture shooting (obviously) at sunset three shots with +/- 2 EV . This photo was taken near the Big Meadows Lodge on the Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park.

Dragon*Con Beauties

Here's a photo that I took before our band started parading through the downtown Atlanta Streets as part of the big Dragon*Con Parade. These three are not in the band.

Medicine Pickup

I actually got out of the house early enough this morning not to be completely fried by the sun. I was in downtown Decatur at a reasonably hour for a medicine pickup at Kaiser Permanente, and on the way back to my car this scene caught my fancy.

Lawrenceville Lamp

This photo was taken after we just left a restaurant in Lawrenceville Georgia. I had to crop it a fair bit since it was at an intersection and cars kept pulling up and positioning themselves in the frame. I think I like the present composition.

Red Umbrella

A few weeks ago my wife and I were having lunch in downtown Decatur sitting outdoor, and I just pointed my camera up. This is what I saw.

Blue Sky Reflections

Northside Hospital

I liked this shot, taken at the same position as the King and Queen photo. It another mid day photo, but it turned out to be rather intriguing, and I find I'm needing to go onto Google Maps to check the exact building that I'm photographing since I don't remember that part of the hospital sitting over the parking deck.

King and Queen

King and Queen

I took this picture looking North from the Northside Hospital Parking deck and it shows these two buildings at more or less the intersection of the Atlanta 285 perimeter highway that circles the city and highway 400 that extends from the Buckhead section of town towards North Georgia. 1pm is not exactly the ideal time to be out and about during summer in Atlanta, but I take what I can get.

The Glass House

Evening at Callanwolde

I took this photo a couple of weeks ago at Callanwolde here in Atlanta. The sun was just about to hide behind some clouds, as I recall.

Photo Blogging Updated

I am for the purposes of this blog entry using new flash unit from Sony together with a relatively new Sony camera which is the a6000 model. I am composing this entry on my iPhone which together with some Wi-Fi transfer from the above mentioned Sony camera makes for an interesting experiment with rather small devices.

Water Falling

A few weeks ago Jane and I spent a weekend in Bryson City N Carolina, and visited the National Park just to the north of town. Here’s one of the waterfalls that we saw. It’s called Juney Whank Falls

IPhone Blogging

I’ve been experimenting with a number of different photographic tools. Recently I’ve been pleased to use my Sony NEX–6 camera as a wifi image distribution point. My iPhone connects to its wifi signal and allows me to easily transmit full image quality JPEG files to its camera roll using a program called Playmemories Mobile.

I then process these pictures using the awesome Photogene iPhone app and from there I post to all of the various services/sites that accept images. For the purpose of this blog I can export a processed Sony image from Photogene back to the Camera Roll for inclusion in a blog entry using the Blogpress app which I’m presently using to write this entry.

The end result of all this is that all I need for photo blogging is my Sony Camera and an iPhone. And of course I can even more easily post a processed image taken directly with my iPhone. I do prefer using my Sony NEX camera however and it’s wifi features certainly encourage most frequent and convenient image uploads.

And here’s a picture that I took a few days ago with the Sony camera.
